Privacy Policy

CogniLog is built to keep your data with you. This policy explains what that means in practice: what the app stores, what leaves your device only when you ask it to, and the few things we receive if you contact us or join a beta.

Your log lives on your device. Entries, tags, and channels are stored locally on your Mac and iPhone using Apple’s on-device database. We don’t run servers that hold your log, and we can’t read your entries.

Sync is your iCloud, not ours. If you turn on sync, CogniLog moves your log between your own devices through your personal iCloud account (Apple’s CloudKit). It’s covered by Apple’s privacy terms and your iCloud settings, and it never passes through Rivet Rune. Leave sync off and nothing leaves the device.

AI access is something you turn on, and it reads your log. CogniLog includes an MCP (Model Context Protocol) server so your own AI tools, like Claude or other assistants, can read your log to answer questions about your work. When you connect one, that tool receives the entries it queries. That AI tool is run by you or by a third party you’ve chosen, under their privacy terms, and what it does with the text is outside our control. The server only runs when you start it and only responds to the tools you point at it; it doesn’t send your data anywhere on its own. If you never connect an AI tool, nothing is shared this way.

What we receive directly. Very little. If you email us, we get what you send and use it only to reply. If you sign up for updates or join a beta on this site, we store the email you submit and use it only for those updates and beta-related notes about the app. We don’t sell personal information, and this site runs no ads or third-party trackers.

Purchases. CogniLog offers optional paid features through the App Store. Apple handles the transaction and your payment details, and we never see your card information. We receive from Apple only the anonymized signal needed to unlock what you bought.

Diagnostics. CogniLog includes no third-party analytics or tracking. If you choose to share crash and usage diagnostics with Apple, we may see grouped, non-identifying crash reports through Apple’s own tools, which we use to fix bugs.

Children. CogniLog isn’t directed at children and we don’t knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.

Changes. If we update this policy we’ll change the date below and, for anything significant, note it on this page.

Your choices. Want off the updates list, or want to know what we have? Email support@rivetrune.com and we’ll take care of it. Because your log is stored on your own devices and iCloud, you can delete it at any time from within the app (including a full wipe in Settings) or by removing the app and its iCloud data.
